irish red is in the bottles

Nancy and I bottled the first full boil Irish Red today. We produced 48 bottles of the good stuff. We also got a buzz off the Nukey Brown in the process, because it's a rule that one must consume homebrew during the brewing or bottling process.

red racked

The red is now in the secondary and will be bottled in a week. Looks like the first brew of '06 will be a good one.

nukey brown didn't let me down

We popped a Nukey Brown yesterday and it was fantastic. I would have to put this one in top 5 list. Clean, crisp and a slight hint of coffee. So you Maplegrovers out there heed my words, chill it down and....GO FOR IT!

red in the new year

I had planned on brewing Saturday but a hangover popped up after Friday night's company Christmas party. The Country Club hosted the party and I discovered they had Newcastle on tap.... say no more.
Sunday came and I felt a little better so I let 'er fly. The five gallon brew came off without a hitch, and the chiller got the wort down to 75 degrees in a quick twenty minutes........can't wait for the taste test in six weeks.

red in the big brown truck

I ordered another red ale kit and UPS has predicted it to be in Minot on the 5th. I can't wait to brew this one because it will be my first batch where I do a full 5 gallon boil in my new 9 gallon kettle. I have read that full a boil creates a better brew than the half boil with water added to the wort after brewing.
Thanks Nancy for the new kettle!
