nukey brown for what ales you

Saturday was brew day and the Nukey brown ale is in the primary bubbling up a storm. It smells reeeeeaally good! Turkey day was a success with good food and good homebrew for the family to enjoy. Looking at the first week of January for popping time on this one. By the way, the new wort chiller worked great. It brought the temp down in no time.

red popped

I got into the red today and found a good brew with plenty of hop flavor. It not only has more hop flavor than the Irish Draught but it's a little higher in the alcohol content as well. I also put an order in with Northern Brewer for my next kit which will be a Newcastle clone.

new tool for an old fool

I built myself a wort chiller. Wort chillers are used to bring down the temperature of the brew to the 75 degree range so the yeast can be pitched in the fermentor. Getting this temp down fast leaves less time for the wort to pick up any bacteria or other contaminants.

Cold water passes through the tube while it is immersed in the wort.
