No brewing. Just drinking.

We have been drinking the Amarillo Pale Ale off the keg for a week or so and are enjoying it. My Porter is still sitting in the primary and I'm hoping the yeast will finally finish so I can transfer it to the secondary. The only thing I have to do is drink some beer and wait for a decent day to fire up the brew stand. I have a Belgian Wit waiting in the wings.

Taddy Porter......I hope.

I got off work a little early today so I decided to brew. A Taddy Porter was the target, but I found out I was 8 oz. short of my Chocolate malt addition on my inventory. I subbed 4 oz. of Carafa I and a 4 oz. Coffee malt to make up. We'll see how it turns out. The brew day went smooth and I had fun using my new toys. The new toys being a refractometer for measuring specific gravity and an oxygen tank for adding O2 to the wort for healthy yeast.

Amarillo Kegged !

I just got done kegging the Amarillo APA. The recipe was handed down secretly in a basement belonging to a local home brew enthusiast who shall be known only as "Elbow Cracker". The recipe is the property of Vince, and has won numerous awards. It is my first attempt at dry hopping, and early samples are very encouraging. Bringing my nose over the top of the glass brought a nice wallop of hop aroma, but not enough to singe nose hairs. On tasting, the Amarillo hops bring a nice grassy, citrus quality that really plucks your hop bone. Good stuff! Should be carbed up in several days and ready for it's debut.
