Amarillo in secondary

I racked the APA to the secondary for a little conditioning and a dose of dry hopping. An ounce more of the Amarillo hops was added for aroma. There is a total of 6 oz. of hops in this beer. It smells good and should taste that way too in a week or so.

Amarillo by morning

Last Saturday I brewed the Amarillo APA I've been trying to get to for so long. It happened to be -2 that day and everything seemed to go haywire. I was dealing with issues from leaking mash cooler, lost pump parts, spilled hops, low propane pressure, freezing hose..........YIKES! It's amazing I got through it at all. The good news is I hit my temps, and a dandy Pale Ale was brewed. It's fermented out and ready to transfer to secondary for dry hop. It should hit the keg in a little over a week.

Kraken Good

The Kraken Rum Porter and the Wet hopped APA turned out to be big hits over the holidays. I sampled a bottled version of the Porter and found a bit of difference between it and the kegged version. The bottled version seemed to have a bit more flavor and creamier mouth feel. I've seen it written that the priming sugar makes a smaller bubble than CO2 creating that creamier feel. I tend to agree. Nonetheless both versions are very good and deserve repeating! The kegs are starting to dwindle and I should really get to brewing the Amarillo APA I've been planning for some time now.
